JUNE 2024 (Year-End) NEWSLETTER

Howdy Houston Aggie Moms,

I hope you and your homes didn't suffer much as a result of the storm a few weeks ago. We initially had power at Bethel Church for our May meeting but lost it after Nancy and Shawna set up an amazing Fiesta taco bar. We decided it was safer to stay, eat and hold the meeting without power than to leave as the storm intensified. We're glad many of you who weren't already there turned around or decided not to venture out, though!

We made the best of it, but I wasn't able to share my presentation including our Funding Distribution Committee's report regarding the funds we raised together this year. I shared details verbally, but I'm including the information below for all of you to view.

Thank you for helping make 2023-2024 another great year for Houston Aggie Moms' Club and allowing me to serve as your president!

MAY GENERAL MEETING

Aggie Moms are awesome and adaptable: Even without power, we enjoyed lots of great food, socializing, thanked the 2023-2024 board members, voted in Zhen Lin as 3rd VP Directory-B, installed the new board, designated Melissa Johnson as a Life Member, presented gifts to moms of graduating Aggies, announced the Funding Distribution Committee's Report and reviewed highlights of our year!

RING OF HONOR SOCIAL EVENT

Despite a continued power outage at the planned venue, our Ring of Honor Aggie Moms held their final Happy Hour event of the year at a nearby location with power: Onion Creek Cafe, Bar & Grill, on Sunday, May 19th. We're sorry we didn't get photos of everyone!

Do you have at least one Aggie who has graduated/is a Former Student of Texas A&M? If so, you are eligible to join our ROH group ($5 annual fee) and to participate in ROH's additional social activities.

SUPPORT EACH OTHER - SHARE RESOURCES - GROW AS WE GO

At recent meetings, I mentioned that many of us are navigating the care, support and loss of our parents while we're still parenting our children in many ways, even as they attend college and beyond.

We are all at different stages in this process and could benefit from learning about experiences and resources from other members. We may choose to meet monthly, occasionally or just share resources and support each other.

I received interest in pursuing this idea further and in hosting the group, so if you are interested and/or have ideas on developing this group, please contact me: Laura.Spilman@HoustonAggieMoms.org
